Dr. Brian D. Wright
Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Adolescents (14 and up) and Adults
Dr. Wright is a 3rd year psychiatry resident at Piedmont Macon Medical Center as well as an ordained minister. Prior to becoming a medical doctor, Brian was a pastor for 11 years and continues to be a regular pulpit guest in churches in middle Georgia.
For an overview of his education, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Belmont University in 1999 with a major in Religion and a minor in Psychology. He obtained a Masters of Divinity from Mercer University School of Theology in 2003. He then completed a Masters of Theology from Candler School of Theology of Emory University in 2004. In 2010 he completed his doctorate in ministry from Mercer University School of Theology.
In 2012, he began the transition to becoming a physician taking pre-med classes. Then, he obtained his Masters of Science in 2014 from Mercer University School of Medicine and then received his doctorate of medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine in 2019.
He shared that his “practice of medicine is not something separate from his calling early in life. All that has changed is the tools that I use and the place that I work during the week. I have always thought of the work that I do now as important ministry and view each person that I work with as a child of God in search of wholeness. I strive to treat all people with dignity and respect and the same love and grace that I have been given.” So whether he is in the pulpit, the hospitals or the outpatient clinics, Dr. Wright has a passion to help people.
Dr. Wright sees patients ages 14 and older for medication management for depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction recovery, obsessive compulsive disorders, eating disorders and other short term or chronic mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders.
Sees clients face to face on Mondays 4 pm-8 pm and Tuesdays from 4 pm – 8 pm.
